Tourism Industry Association of Ontario Supports Toronto-Québec City Rapid Train Project

The Tourism Industry Association of Ontario (TIAO) is pleased to express its support for the proposed Toronto-Québec City Rapid Train project, emphasizing the vital role of partnership with our neighbors in Quebec. This initiative not only promises to enhance transportation connectivity between Ontario and Quebec but also represents a significant step toward economic growth and competitiveness.

As the demand for efficient, reliable transportation, and investment in transportation infrastructure, continues to rise, the Toronto-Québec City Rapid Train project presents itself as a transformative solution. By providing faster, more frequent service between major urban centers, including Toronto and Montreal, we can reduce congestion, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and create new opportunities for businesses and travelers alike.

"The Toronto-Québec City Rapid Train project is not just about improving transit; it's about fostering economic collaboration and innovation across provincial borders," said Andrew Siegwart, President and CEO of the Tourism Industry Association of Ontario. "Bi-provincial support on this initiative will ensure we maximize our collective strengths, create jobs, and stimulate tourism and economic development on both sides of the border."

The Toronto to Quebec City rapid train will bring three capital cities and other growing destination regions closer together, providing faster, more reliable and more frequent service to citizens and visitors. Facilitating seamless travel for business and leisure will bolster tourism in this corridor.

“The collaboration between the tourism associations of Quebec and Ontario is testimony to the strategic importance of the project for the future of tourism. By joining our efforts, we speak with one voice to demand the realization of a major project that will unite the largest Canadian provinces for the benefit of economic and tourism development,” said Geneviève Cantin, President and CEO of the Quebec Tourism Industry Alliance.

TIAO urges stakeholders, including government officials and business leaders, to prioritize this initiative and recognize the long-term benefits of investing in a robust rail system.
