Ontario Organizations Call for Province-Wide Rideshare Framework

Business, tourism, educational and community organizations from across Ontario are calling on the provincial government to build on recent progress in expanding rideshare access and move toward a consistent, province-wide rideshare framework.

In a joint letter to Premier Doug Ford, the organizations point to the Northeastern Ontario rideshare pilot as an important first step and highlight the benefits that more consistent rideshare access could provide for communities across the province.

The letter outlines the role reliable transportation options can play in supporting visitor mobility, workforce and senior mobility, access to health care, student mobility, local business growth, tourism and hospitality, and public safety.

The organizations are urging the province to build on the pilot’s momentum and move toward a consistent province-wide framework that reduces unnecessary red tape and expands transportation choice for communities across Ontario.

Signatories include MADD Canada, Collège Boréal, Sudbury Wolves, Destination Northern Ontario, Deco Communities, Sudbury Chamber of Commerce, Parry Sound Chamber of Commerce, Restaurants Canada, Eastern Ontario Wardens' Caucus, Ontario Hockey League, Ontario Chamber of Commerce, Hope Air, Cambrian College and the Tourism Industry Association of Ontario.
